Aside from permanent tattoos, there are temporary or fake tattoos that we can enjoy. Temporary tattoos are designs or images painted, drawn or airbrushed on the skin. It resembles a true tattoo however, it is not permanent. Temporary tattoos are the perfect solution for helping you to decide by trying out a tattoo before you get a permanent one.
Here are three types:
1. Sticker Tattoos
Sticker tattoos are the most common temporary tattoos but can easily be washed off and are sometimes blurry. They are also called lick and peel temporary tattoos. It typically last for 3 to 5 days. They usually is composed of 5 main elements: the front and back sheet of paper, glue, ink and a protective plastic sheet. It is done by removing the plastic sheet, then placing the image face down against the skin. After, you need to moisture the back sheet by wetting it. Finally, remove the back sheet leaving the image in your skin. Because they are cheap and easily produced they have been sold widely, especially to kids.
2. Henna Tattoos
Another kind of temporary tattoos are henna tattoos. They are also known as Mehndi, an art that started in India. The ink comes from a paste made from a powdered leaves of Lawsonia Inermis, also called Henna plant. It is where it derives its name. Henna tattoos look quite realistic, but it does not give you a wide choice of colors but only shades of red, brown and near blacks. It is applied or stained on the skin and left for several hours. It would last for days to about a month.
3. Airbrush Tattoos
Airbrush tattoos are created by placing a stencil to the skin and applying the tattoo ink with an airbrush. Just like permanent tattoos, they can be created with different designs and various colors; however it is only applied on the surface of the skin. It will last for a couple of days to a week.
Temporary tattoos can give you a feel of how and what it is like to have a tattoo. It will give you an idea what types of tattoos will look good on you.
